Sophie and Sian 18th July 2010

Ryan: Mum, you’ve got to help us?
Michelle: What’s the matter?
Ryan: Sian’s, I don’t know, she sort of collapsed
Michelle: Collapsed?
Ryan: she’s got pains and…
Michelle: Where is she?
Ryan: She’s just over at the bus stop
Michelle: Right well go back to her. I’m coming
Liz: What’s going on?
Michelle: Oh, Ryan was taking Sian to the prom and she’s collapsed. I don’t know
Owen: I know a bit of first aid
Liz: Well, I don’t think they do… go on

Sian: ow
Ryan: any better?
Sian: no, it’s worse
Michelle: No it’s worse
Sian: I’ve got this pain
Michelle: Right and has it just come on
Sian: No, I had it before but it was not as bad
Ryan: can we not call an ambulance?
Owen: No, do you know what will be quicker…here’s the keys to my car. Go and get the doors open please. Right young lady, I’m going to put you in my arms, okay. Put your arms round there

Ryan: excuse me can you take a look at this girl please
Nurse: What’s the problem? Well hang on do you want to just sit her on one of these
Owen: yes please, thank you nurse
Ryan: she’s in agony you can see
Nurse: where are these pains exactly. Can you point to them?
Sian: my stomach
Nurse: and do they come and go or is it all the time
Sian: all the time
Nurse: any vomiting, diarrhea?
Sian:  Some, yeah
Michelle: Do you know her home address because the reception are giving all sorts I can’t tell them
Ryan: Well, I know where her dad lives
Nurse: look we can this out later; for now I think I’m going to take this young lady, what’s her name?
Ryan: Sian
Nurse: Right I’m going to take Sian straight through and let the doctor take a look at her, if you just want to wait here
Owen: So has she got no family or what?
Ryan: Her dad’s away and her mum lives in Southport
Michelle: Well, I think we should let one of them know
Owen: I know I’d want to know if it was one of my kids
Michelle: Hasn’t she been stopping at the Webster’s, maybe they’ve got a number for her mum

Sophie: Dad, (can’t interpret what she says here) Sian?
Kevin: Like I said she’s been taken to hospital but one thing we know is she’s being well looked after
Sophie: She said she had pains the other day but I didn’t believe here
Kevin: Hey, come on, this isn’t your fault, what do you want to do?
Sophie: Well, isn’t it obvious I want to go to the Hospital, I want to see her
Kevin: Would you not be better off staying here and I can give you a ring if there’s any news
Sophie: Dad, if you think I’m going back in there while Sian’s like…I don’t even know what’s happening to her
Kevin: hey, hey, come on try and calm down
Sophie: I just want to see her dad
Kevin: Okay, we’ll go to the hospital. Do you want to go home and get changed first?
Sophie: No
Kevin: okay, come on then

Michelle: Kevin, the doctors just been through, she’s got appendicitis
Ryan: They think it’s like burst
Michelle: ruptured
Sophie: ah, what?
Michelle: They’ve taken her straight to theatre
Sophie: is she going to be all right?
Michelle: I’m sure she’ll be fine
Kevin: Look soph, I know your worried but this is the best place she could be
Sophie: but, well, how longs it going to be until we find out anything
Michelle: oh, they’ve not said love
Kevin: We’re just going to have to wait

Doctor: Are you Sian’s relatives?
Sophie: um, no but
Michelle: We’ve left a message for her mum
Ryan: I’m her sort of boyfriend
Kevin: and she’s staying at ours
Doctor: Well, er, okay. It’s good news, although it might not have been if you hadn’t gotten her in so quickly. We did an appendectomy, which means we made a small incision to remove the appendix, then clean things up. The patients still coming round but once she has she’ll be moved onto a ward
Sophie: and then can we see her?
Doctor: yeah just briefly once she’s recovered consciousness, is that all right?
Sophie: yeah thank you so much
Kevin: yeah thanks Doctor
Doctor: Thank You
Kevin: That’s good
Michelle: yeah that’s very good. Well done you
Ryan: Me
Michelle: yeah for raising the alarm
Kevin: yeah well done

Sian: I’ve spoiled it for everyone haven’t I?
Michelle: don’t be so silly
Ryan: It would have been dead boring anyway
Michelle: yeah except you’ve given them all something to talk about. made yourself belle of the ball without even turning up
Kevin: Look we’ll get our turn. They said no more than two more at once
Sophie: I know
Kevin: Made a mess of your big night though
Sophie: as long as Sian’s all right, yeah
Kevin: Well, yeah. That’s the way to look at it your right there
Sophie: anyway I knew something would happen. Too straightforward just for us to both go and have a good time together

Sophie: Dad, you don’t have to come in though. I’ll be able to talk to Sian on my own
Kevin: okay, get well soon then Sian. Okay
Sian: thank you
Kevin: I’ll wait for you outside
Sophie: right thanks dad
Sian: hi
Sophie: was it awful?
Sian: the pain was yeah
Sophie: I wish it could have been me instead
Sian: yeah it was my fault. I should have done something about it yesterday
Sophie: um Sian, why was you with Ryan?
Sian: just getting the bus that’s all
Sophie: yeah I thought it would have been that. So how long are they keeping you in here for?
Sian: Don’t know
Sophie: Well, I’ll come and see you as many times as I can and I’ll stay tonight if you want
Sian: They won’t let you
Sophie: I lied; they won’t be able to find me…Sian? Are you asleep? I love you
